The new Banksy in Hackney’s Gillett Square was defaced with graffiti over last weekend.
Vandals have beaten Hackney Council to it by scribbling over the new Banksy stencil of a young boy with a boom box.
The turquoise scrawl reads “Love not Money”, which may be a reference to Banksy’s recent financial success. It covers the famous artist’s work.
Hackney Co-operative Developments have an application pending to corner off the wall as a graffiti area to prevent future stencils being removed.
